Terms of Use

These are the rules for using Fair Play Games. They are short because the site is simple. If something here is unclear, ask us at info@fair-play.games.

1. Who we are, and who you are

Fair Play Games is run by Jason Bamforth, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. To write to us by post, or for legal service: Fair Play Games, Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FA. Email: info@fair-play.games.

By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

You must be 13 or over. If you sign in with Steam, Steam's own age rules apply as well.

2. What Fair Play Games is

A place where players say what a game was actually worth to them, after playing it, and see what other players said. The figures on this site are the opinions of the players who gave them, added up. They are not prices, not valuations, not advice, and not a promise about what any game will cost or be worth to you.

Game titles, artwork, and release details come from IGDB and Steam. Price history comes from IsThereAnyDeal. That data belongs to those services and is shown here under their terms, as it comes to us. We do not own it and we do not vouch for it. Fair Play Games is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Valve, Steam, Twitch, IGDB, or IsThereAnyDeal.

3. Your ratings and words

What you write is yours. When you rate a game or write about it, you keep whatever rights you have in your words.

You give us permission to publish it. By submitting a rating, and anything you write with it, you grant Fair Play Games a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable licence to store it, display it, count it, and combine it with other players' ratings, on the site and in figures we publish or share about what players think games are worth. Where we share figures beyond the site, no one is identifiable in them.

The permission survives you leaving. Ratings are a public contribution from the moment you make them. If you delete your account, your ratings stay on the games you rated, anonymised, and you cannot reclaim, edit, or remove them afterwards. Everything private to you goes with you. The Privacy page says exactly what.

You confirm what you submit is yours to give: your own opinion, your own words, and nothing copied from anyone else or about anyone else without their say.

4. The rules

Fair Play Games works only if the numbers are honest. So:

Rate games you have played. The site is for what a game was worth to you, knowing what you know now. Not games you have not played, and not games you are guessing about.

One rating per game, per platform, per person. A game can be a gem on one platform and a mess on another, so platforms are rated separately. But one person gets one voice on each.

One account per person. Do not create extra accounts, share an account, or use anyone else's. Do not use accounts, scripts, or arrangements with others to push a game's figure up or down.

Write like a person, to people. Do not post anything unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexual, or that reveals someone's personal details. Do not post spam, adverts, or links to malware. Do not pretend to be someone else, or to be a developer or publisher you are not.

Do not take the site apart. No scraping, crawling, bulk downloading, or automated access except through anything we publish for that purpose. Do not try to get around any limit, filter, or control. Do not interfere with anyone else's use of the site.

5. Reports, moderation, and complaints

Every rating has a report link, whether or not you are signed in. If you see something that breaks these rules, use it.

A reported rating is not hidden just because it was reported. A human looks first. If a rating breaks the rules we may blur it, hide it, or remove it, and we may close the account that made it. We keep a record of reports and what we did about them.

If you think we got a moderation decision wrong, or you want to complain about anything on the site, write to info@fair-play.games. We will look at it and reply.

6. Your account

You are responsible for what happens on your account. Sign-in links and Steam sign-in are personal to you; do not pass them on. If you think someone else has got into your account, tell us at info@fair-play.games straight away.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Section 3 says what stays.

7. Our stuff

The Fair Play Games name, wordmark, icon, site design, and the code behind it are ours. You may not copy them or use them to suggest a connection with us that does not exist. This does not affect the game data described in section 2, which is not ours, or your own words, which are not ours either.

8. What we do not promise

The site is provided as it is and as it is available. We do not promise it will always be up, always be right, or always be there. The figures are player opinion, and we do not guarantee any of them. Game data from third parties is shown as we receive it, without any warranty from us or from them.

We are not liable to you for any loss of profit, business, data, or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss, arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to exclude. If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away rights the law gives you.

9. Ending things

You can stop using the site whenever you like, and delete your account from Settings.

We can suspend or close an account, remove content, or restrict access if these terms are broken, if the law requires it, or if we need to protect the site or other players. Where we can, we will tell you why.

10. Changes

We may change these terms. If we do, the date at the bottom changes and the new terms apply from then. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK, or in a country whose law gives you the right to bring a claim at home, that right is not affected.
